In just 3 weeks, Ecopia, in partnership with Maxar (formerly DigitalGlobe), generated the first and only complete map of Tanzania. 18,588,871 buildings were mapped across 945,087 km2 with >90% accuracy, leveraging high-resolution satellite imagery and advanced AI technology.
This mapping was completed for a collaborative effort led by one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations. This organization aims to map all of Sub-Saharan Africa to support the next generation of African geographers in governments, businesses, and educational institutions to make better decisions surrounding efforts including:
- Vaccine distribution
- Population mapping
- Disaster response
- Property / land-use records
By leveraging proprietary artificial intelligence systems and a strong partnership with Maxar, Ecopia is uniquely positioned to rapidly produce high-accuracy geospatial data layers at a scale never before thought possible.
Understanding the built and natural world is becoming increasingly important as population continues to grow, and sustainable development is top of mind. With the population in Africa expected to double in the next 30 years, Ecopia understands the need to build products and solutions that offer affordable, scalable and up-to-date access to foundational HD Vector Maps that can be embedded into mission-critical applications.
